Esteghlal defeats Gahar 2-0 [VIDEO]

PressTV – TEHRAN, Esteghlal has blanked rock-bottom Gahar to leapfrog Teraktorsazi and claim the first place of the table in the 14th week of Iran’s Premier League (IPL).

The Blues defeated Gahar with two first-half goals at a sparsely populated Azadi stadium in Tehran on Monday.

Forward Arash Borhani scored the opener at the 17th minute and Trinidadian defender Jlloyd Samuel doubled the lead through a header at the 20th minute.

In the 13th week of the IPL, Peikan tied with Zob Ahan 2-2, Damash edge past Gahar 1-0, Teraktorsazi trounced Sepahan 4-1, Esteghlal downed Naft Tehran 2-1, Mes beat Persepolis 2-1, Saipa defeated Naft Abadan 1-0, Malavan overpowered Rah Ahan through a solo, Saba saw off Aluminum with the same result, and Foulad routed Fajr 2-1.

On Tuesday, Naft Tehran will take on Sepahan and Teraktorsazi will play against Damash.

Esteghlal is currently on top of the IPL table with 25 points from 13 matches, followed by Teraktorsazi with 23 points, and Malavan with 22 points.
