TEHRAN TIMES – TEHRAN, Persepolis football team fought back from 2-0 down to defeat Zob Ahan 3-2 on Monday.
 
In the match held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Payam Sadeghian scored an early goal for the visiting team in the 6th minute. Nine minutes later, Persepolis defender Alireza Nourmohammadi scored an own goal.
 
Zob Ahan went down to 10 men in the 24th minute when Saeid Abdollahpour was shown a red card by referee Mohsen Torki after bringing down Persepolis striker Hadi Norouzi just outside the penalty area.
 
Persepolis was the better team and finally pulled a goal back in first-half injury time.
Captain Mehdi Mahdavikia scored from a free kick.
 
Zob Ahan keeper Masoud Homami was sent off in the 52nd minute after brought down Norouzi in the penalty area.
 
Montenegrin keeper Darko Bozovic saved Mahdavikia’s penalty kick.  
 
Persepolis put 9-man Zob Ahan under pressure and Mohammad Nouri equalized the match in the 75th minute.
 
Karim Ansarifard scored Persepolis’s winning goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time.  
 
Persepolis moved up to 10th spotof the standings table with 20 points.
 
Esteghlal is at the top of the table with 28 points, followed by Malavan and Traktor Sazi with 25 and 24 points respectively.
