Yaghoub_Karimi_TM_2012TEHRAN TIMES – KUWAIT CITY, Iran defeated Yemen in the 2012 West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship on Saturday but the team failed to book a place in the semifinals round.
 
Iran defeated Yemen 2-1 in the match held at the Al-Sadaqua Walsalam Stadium in Kuwait City.
 
Omid Nazari scored for Iran just four minutes before the break. His goal was cancelled out by Fuad in the 48th minute of first half.
 
Iran striker Yaghoub Karimi found the back of the net in the 53rd minute.
 
Bahrain defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 and advanced to the semis.
 
Iran had been already held by Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in Group B.
 
The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship is an international tournament for selected West Asian countries. The competition takes places in Kuwait from December 8 to 20.
