Ansarifard_TO_2011Press TV – SHIRAZ, Persepolis has delighted its fans in the 19th week of Iran’s Premier League (IPL) and moved up to the 9th spot after it routed Fajr Sepasi 2-0 at home.

The match was played on Sunday in Hafezieh Stadium of Shiraz, situated about 930 kilometers (577 miles) south of Tehran, and with 10,500 spectators in attendance.

Gholamreza Rezaei unleashed an exquisite shot just 12 seconds after the referee, Mohsen Ghahremani, blew the starting whistle, and scored the opener for the Reds.

Persepolis players had control over the game in the first half of the match, and it was Karim Ansarifard who put the ball into the net in the 26th minute to double the Tehran-based team’s lead.

Although the Reds had plenty of marvelous opportunities to score goals during the first half of the game, they squandered their chances.

The match gained momentum after the break, as the guests started playing with much more purpose.

Fajr Sepasi players did their best in the second half to compensate for the two goals they had conceded during the game, but their efforts bore no fruit.

Persepolis had a number of obvious scoring opportunities in the second half of the game, and counter-attacked into their opponent’s half of the pitch, threatening to score in one instance.

Esteghlal is currently on top of the IPL table with 34 points followed by Sepahan with 31 points. Foulad, Malavan, and Teraktorsazi are third to fifth respectively. Foulad and Malavan both have 30 points each while Teraktorsazi have snatched 29 points.

Below you can watch Rezaei’s and Ansarifard’s goals from PFDC TV, where you can also find the full highlights of this game as well as Foulad’s 1-0 win over Sepahan.
