alfredo_casimiroTEHRAN TIMES – ABADAN, Acacio Casimiro was sacked as coach of Iranian football team Sanat Naft on Saturday.

Ali Firouzi replaced the Portuguese coach in the Abadan-based club.

Casimiro, 64, replaced his countryman Jose Costa in October but was forced to leave the team following the poor results.

“Naft has won just one game in the past 22 matches. I know we have a tough job to prevent from being relegated in the current season,” newly-appointed coach Firouzi said.

“I need the fans to support us.  I cannot do miracles. The team’s officials have to be patient,” he added.

Sanat Naft sits at the bottom of the table with 14 points.
