Iran are Korea’s main rival, shooting star Son believes
PFDC – HAMBURG, Hamburg SV and South Korea shooting star Son Heung Min believes Iran have the capacity to still improve during this World Cup qualifying campaign, as he explained to FIFA.com this week.
“I think Iran can still get better. They’ve got a lot quality, especially with internationally experienced players like [Ashkan] Dejagah and [Ali] Karimi.
“On the other hand I think Uzbekistan may falter a little”, the 20-year-old is quoted.
But the winger is also not short of respect for the other teams in the group.
“The other countries have developed well in the last few years. Even if Lebanon or Uzbekistan are almost unheard of here in Europe, they’re very good and we can’t take them for granted.”
Nevertheless Son is certain of his country’s successful World Cup qualification.
“We still have three home games to play and with our fans behind us we want to win every game. That’s why I’m confident and have the belief that we’ll get through in the end.”
Uzbekistan are currently leading the group with eight points out of five matches, with Iran, Qatar and South Korea trailing by one point, the latter with a game in hand.
Lebanon stand on bottom with four points.
The top two will directly qualify for Brazil 2014 while the third placed team will have to go through playoffs.
