Persianfootball.com – KUALA LUMPUR, Asian Cup qualifiers resumed throughout Asia on Friday, with only Iran’s clash against Kuwait and Saudi Arabia’s game in Indonesia having been postponed to Tuesday and Saturday respecitively as well as both matches of group A, which will be played in autumn.

There were some matches with connection to Iran though, Lebanon defeating Thailand 5-2 in Beirut being one of them in two aspects. Not only those two teams are in Iran’s Asian Cup qualifying group B, but also Lebanon are competing in Iran’s World Cup qualifying group A.

Lebanon will travel to Uzbekistan for the World Cup qualifier on Tuesday and Iranian fans will certainly hope the visitors will at least snatch a point from Iran’s main rivals, like they did in the previous encounter in Beirut last year (1-1).

The big win surely boosted the morale of the Lebanese team, which had surprisingly defeated Iran in a World Cup qualifier last year, but was humiliated 5-0 in Tehran on matchday 1 of Asian Cup qualification in February.

Meanwhile Uzbekistan’s poor form of 2013 continued, increasing the hopes of a set-up on Tuesday. After a goalless draw against minnows Hong Kong in Asian Cup qualification in Tashkent in February, Kasimov’s men suffered a 1-2 defeat in the UAE in the same competition on Friday.

Fellow World Cup qualification rivals Qatar also were beaten on the same day, suffering a 0-1 loss to Bahrain.

Qatar will travel to South Korea for a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday now.
