Dejagah remains hopeful over Iran’s future [VIDEO]
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Fulham’s Iranian midfielder Ashkan Dejagah says he is hopeful that Iran football team can reach the 2014 World Cup.
The 27-year-old underwent an operation on his ankle last week.
Dejagah will not be playing for the Iranian national football team at least for three months.
He will miss the games against Qatar, Lebanon and South Korea in the 2014 World Cup qualifier, slated for June 4, 11, and 18 respectively.
In Fulham’s 3-2 victory over QPR April 1, Dejagah sustained an ankle ligament injury.
“I am so sad because I cannot play for Iran, however, I am sure my team-mates will do their best to book a place in the World Cup,” Dejagah said in an interview with Iran’s state-run TV.
“The doctors told me I will return from injury within 8 to 12 weeks,” he added.
Dejagah joined Fulham from VfL Wolsburg on a three-year deal in late August.
