AFC lifts embargo on Iran
ISNA – TEHRAN, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) general assembly accepted Iran’s Football Federation’s (IFF) request to lift one billion dollar budget ban on development projects for Iranian football teams.
AFC budget for Iran’s football teams is one million dollar frozen by western countries following the embargos against Iran, but the move made it possible for Iran to use the AFC’s financial aid.
The AFC members accepted Iran’s request after the Asian Football Confederation President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa discussed Iran’s call for lifting the embargo at the general assembly meeting.
