Alishah saves 10-man Persepolis, Foolad back on top [VIDEO]
Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, Omid Alishah crowned his pleasing performance in his first start for Persepolis with the sole goal of the day against Malavan Anzali in round 5 of the Persian Gulf League.
The young winger had followed his coach Ali Daei from Rah Ahan to the Tehran giants and earned a surprising start for which he thanked Daei with a well placed shot from the edge of the box after Mehdi Seyed Salehi had failed to capitalize on a one-on-one with the keeper following a good pass from Payam Sadeghian 16 minutes from time.
Persepolis had been reduced to ten men after 15 minutes when young defensive midfielder Mehrdad Kafshgari, who replaced the injured Reza Haghighi, was sent off for a brutal foul.
Alishah could have added a second when his shot from tight angle after a good dribbling came off the goalpost before Gholamreza Rezaei’s following effort was cleared off the line.
Different fates for Foolad, Tractor and Sepahan
Persepolis are now in fourth position of the table behind leaders Foolad Khuzestan, Esteghlal Tehran and Naft Tehran.
Foolad regained the top position after beating Rah Ahan 1-0 thanks to a Pereira penalty.
Naft Tehran celebrated a 4-2 win over Esteghlal Khuzestan thanks to a brace from Reza Norouzi as well as goals from Mehrdad Oladi and Rasoul Navidkia.
Tractor Sazi only came out with a goalless draw from the clash against Mes Kerman while Sepahan suffered a 1-2 defeat to bottom placed Fajr Sepasi, despite taking the lead through Djalovic in first half.
Tractor are now in fifth position while Sepahan are sixth.
