Persianfootball.com – DORTMUND, Iranian goalkeeper Daniel Davari surprisingly returned to Eintracht Braunschweig’s starting lineup and showed a pleasing performance in the 1-2 loss at Dortmund in round 2 of German Bundesliga on Sunday.

Davari and veteran Petkovic had been in a fierce battle for the goalkeeping position at the newly promoted club since the end of last season and it looked like Petkovic finally had the upper hand when he started both in the German Cup as well as in round 1 of the Bundesliga.

Despite two losses, Petkovic had been without any major mistake, so barely anyone expected 25-year-old Davari to get any playing time this season.

But coach Lieberknecht had hinted before that he would be open to a more flexible solution in goal and seemingly will constantly switch between Davari and Petkovic.

Davari and Braunschweig had a very tough task against the German giants and unsurprisingly relied on a tight defense.

The concept worked very well and Davari didn’t have much to do in his Bundesliga debut in first half before Dortmund finally started to create more danger after the break, with Davari keeping the game deadlocked with a couple of brilliant saves against Aubameyang, Lewandowski & Co.

However, with just 15 minutes on the clock substitute midfielder Jonas Hofmann brought the hosts in front from tight angle after he was put one on one with Davari and was lucky when the ball slipped through the advancing keepers legs before finding the way into the net via the goalpost.

Dortmund seemed to have sealed victory short time later when Marco Reus converted a penalty kick, sending Davari in the wrong direction.

But a late own goal by Lewandowski brought the visitors back into the game, who didn’t manage to score a late equalizer though.

Jahanbakhsh earns second cap, Azmoun shines in youth team

Elsewhere Iranian teenage winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh earned his second cap in the Netherlands coming on as a late substitute in yet another NEC thrashing on Saturda, which puts coach Pastoor under heavy pressure.

In Russia Sardar Azmoun impressed again in the youth team, scoring two goals against Spartak Moscow in a 3-1 away win.

Azmoun, as usual, was subbed out at half time in order to save some energy for the senior squad, which he joined the following day for their league clash against the same team in Moscow, but remained on the bench in the goalless tie.

Meanwhile Reza Ghoochannejhad’s situation at Standard Liege is getting more and more frustrating. The goalgetter once more was ignored by the coach and didn’t even make the 18-man squad in the 1-0 win over Oud-Heverlee.

An alledged move to Bundesliga 2 side Fortuna Düsseldorf seemingly fell through after the Germans signed Austrian striker Erwin Hoffer.

Also Ashkan Dejagah didn’t make Fulham’s roster in Premier League round 1 on Saturday, as Fulham started the season with an unspectacular 1-0 win over Sunderland.

However, Dejagah returned from a lenghty injury absence in summer and despite starting in most preseason friendlies, the winger barely ever played more than a half and seemingly is not 100% matchfit yet.
