Persianfootball.com – KAZAN, Young Iranian prospect Sardar Azmoun joined Ali Daei, Mehdi Mahdavikia, and Javad Nekounam scoring in the a European competition versus Molde during just his second ever appearance for Rubin Kazan’s senior team.
The 18-year-old came on in the 64th minute, twenty minutes later netting his first and a third insurance goal for Rubin against Norwegian team Molde FK in the last round of UEFA Europa League qualifying.
The goal was created from a phenomenal team play, a backheel pass inside to Oleg Kuzmin from Finnish midfielder Roman Eremenko, was just enough for Kuzmin to lay Azmoun off on an open goal, and the Iranian striker made no mistake to calmly put Rubin up by three with six minutes remaining in the match.
Azmoun has recently seen limited playing time, usually coming off the bench late in the match, although coach Kurban Berdyev thought best to rest multiple starters against a relatively weaker opponent. Rubin also swept past Molde 2-0 last week in the first leg.
Elsewhere, star forward Reza Ghoochannejad earned his first start in ages against FC Minsk in the same competition. He didn’t score a goal, but the Iranian had a positive impact on Standard’s 3-1 victory which was more than enough for Standard to qualify for the group stage.
