Iran heads to FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup
Tehran Times – PAPEETE, Iran beach soccer team left Tehran for Tahiti on Saturday to compete at the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
The competition will take place from September 18 to 28 at the Tahua To’ata Stadium (Stade Tahua To’ata) in Papeete, Tahiti.
The Iranian outfit has been drawn in Group C along with four-time FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup winner Brazil, African champion Senegal, as well as European challenger Ukraine.
The Asian champion will face Brazil on the opening day of the competition.
“Our objective is to reach the final four. We have been drawn in a difficult group but I know Brazil well since I am a Brazilian,” Iran coach Marco Octavio said.
“Iran has already defeated Ukraine in a tournament in Belarus, however I don’t know Senegal well,” he added.

Group B: Netherlands, Solomon Islands, Argentina, El Salvador
Group C: Brazil, Iran, Senegal, Ukraine
