Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, Mahmoud Goudarzi – the 4th person introduced by President Hassan Rouhani (pictured) – was confirmed as the new Minister of Sports and Youth.

Iran’s legislators in the Majlis gave a vote of confidence to the current Faculty of Athletics at the University of Tehran head. Goudarzi received 199 votes in favor, 44 against, and 24 abstentions.

Rouhani’s three previous nominees for the position failed to receive parliamentary approval from the conservative-dominated parliament. Masoud Soltanifar, Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri and Hamid Sajadi had all failed to win the parliament’s vote of confidence.

Goudarzi is a 58-year old Tehran University professor in physical education planning.
