Persepolis hits Mes for six
Tehran Times – KERMAN, Persepolis football team crushed Mes of Kerman and moved to the top of the Iranian Professional League (IPL) standings table.
In the match held at the Shahid Bahonar Stadium in Kerman on Friday, The Iranian giant defeated its host 6-0.
This is the Reds’ first ever victory over Mes in Kerman.
Mohsen Mosalman scored an early goal for the visiting team just four minutes into the match. Mehrdad Kafshgari extended Persepolis’s lead with a shot from outside the area in the 16th minute.
Mohammad Reza Khalatbari scored the third goal from the penalty spot three minutes into the second half after Mehdi Seyed Salehi was brought down in the area by Mes keeper Hassan Roudbarian.
Seyed Salehi made it 4-0 in the 68th minute after received a great pass from Reza Haghighi.
Payam Sadeghian was on target in the 73rd minute. Substitute Farzad Hatami rubbed salt into the Mes’s wounds in the dying moments of the match.
“Our strikers took advantage of their chances and gained a great victory over Mes,” Persepolis coach Ali Daei said in the post match news conference.
“Mes has not been defeated by Persepolis in Kerman and I am happy because of this great result,” he added.
Elsewhere, Sepahan drew 0-0 with Gostaresh Foolad, Saipa was held to a 1-1 by Esteghlal Sanati, Tractor Sazi drew 2-2 with Zob Ahan, Naft played out a goalless draw with Damash, Malavan lost to Rah Ahan 1-0 in home and Foolad beat Saba 2-0.
Persepolis moved to the top on goal difference ahead of Tractor Sazi and Naft.
