Esteghlal edges Fajr Sepasi at Azadi

Loading...Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal football team defeated Fajr Sepasi thanks to a late goal from Hashem Beikzadeh on Saturday.
On Saturday, Esteghlal beat rock-bottom Fajr Sepasi 1-0 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium. Beikzadeh headed the ball into the goal with nine minutes remaining.
Beikzadeh was named as the best player of the match also.
“We were dominant team and kept control of the match. I thank my players because of their good performance against Fajr Sepasi. I am happy since we reached our goal,” Esteghlal coach Amir Ghalenoei said in the post match news conference.
“I am satisfied with the way my players played. Esteghlal is still a title contender,” he added.
Esteghlal pulled to within just one point of the Iran Professional League leader Persepolis.
