Javad Nekounam linked with Al Wakrah move – report

Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal midfielder Javad Nekounam is in talks about a move to Al Wakra, the Iranian media reported.

Nekounam, whose contract expires at the end of the season, will reportedly sign a contract with Qatari club within the next few days.

Nekounan will join Al Wakrah on a four-month contract, Mehrnews reported.

Esteghlal defender Pejman Montazeri also joined Umm Salal of Qatar last week.

Nekounam joined Esteghlal in 2012 and won the Iranian Professional League with the Iranian giant last season.

“Nekounam is a great player and we wanted to convince him to stay but he rather than continue his career in Qatar,” Esteghlal general manager Ali Fatollahzadeh said.
