Mozaffarizadeh to referee Tehran derby
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, The referees committee of Iran Football Federation on Wednesday announced the referee for the Tehran derby between Persepolis and Esteghlal.
Saeid Mozaffarizadeh has been appointed to referee the match to be played at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Friday.
The 39-year-old referee will be assisted by Hassan Kamranifar and Saeid Alinejadian in the match. Alireza Faghani will be the fourth official.
Mozaffarizadeh will retire from professional refereeing at the end of this match, he posted on his blog.
The Tehran derby was chosen as the most important in Asia and the 22nd important derby in the world on June 2008 by the World Soccer Magazine
Esteghlal stays top of the Iran Professional League, followed by Foolad and Persepolis.
Esteghlal and Persepolis have played against each other 77 times, with Esteghlal winning 24 games, Persepolis taking 18 victories, and 35 matches ending in a draw.
