Esteghlal marches into Hazfi Cup semis

Loading...Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal football team progressed to the Iran’s Hazfi Cup semi-final on Tuesday by beating Zob Ahan.
In the 43rd minute, Esteghlal defender Hanif Omranzadeh was brought down in the penalty area and Jlloyd Samuel scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot.
With two minutes remaining, referee Alireza Faghani sowed the Esteghlal penalty spot but Ghasem Haddadifar failed to equalize the match.
“I am satisfied with the win. Zob Ahan put us under pressure in the second half but they could not score,” Amir Ghalenoei said in the post match news conference.
Esteghlal will play Mes of Kerman in the Iran’s Hazfi Cup semifinals.
Elsewhere, Tractor Sazi defeated Rah Ahan 2-0 thanks to goals from Saeid Daghighi and Karim Ansarifard.
Tractor will play winner of Foolad and Persepolis in the semis.
