Venue change for Iran versus Kuwait
Persianfootball.com – KARAJ, AFC has approved Football Federation Islamic Repubic of Iran’s request for change of venue for Iran vs Kuwait.
Khorasan Newspaper reports that according to Mr. Mahmoudi, President of Alborz province FA, the Asia Cup qualifier between Iran and Kuwait, which is scheduled for March 2, will now be played in Enghelab Stadium in Karaj after it was approved by AFC.
Previously the match was to be played in Azadi Stadium.
Enghelab Stadium which was built in 2001 and opened in 2006 has a capacity of 30,000 seats. It is the home ground of Persian Gulf Cup side SAIPA FC. This stadium had previously hosted Team Melli in few encounters, such as Indonesia U23(in 2009) and Mozambique(in 2012).
