Iran’s World Cup kits to be unveiled on Saturday

Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, Iran’s football federation (IFF) and shirt sponsor Uhlsport will reveal the Iranian national team’s World Cup kit on Saturday.

The long awaited jersey design will be presented during an event in Tehran featuring many prominent guests such as Team Melli players and staff as well as the ambassadors from Iran’s World Cup opponents Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

If the white home and red away kits will bear the initially planned Iranian Cheetah logo is yet unclear.

Iran had planned to add an image of the extinction-threatened animal to the jerseys and had been promised full support from FIFA boss Sepp Blatter during his visit to Iran last year, but later reports claimed the placement of the image was not approved by FIFA.

Team Melli had been approached by some big sportswear companies in regards to a sponsorship contract for the World Cup, but the Iranians opted to stick to their German partner Uhlsport which had already supported the team during the World Cup qualifying campaign in order to establish a successful long-term partnership.
