Former Esteghlal striker Samereh hangs up his boots
Tehran Times – RAFSANJAN, Mes of Rafsanjan striker Ali Samereh announced his retirement from football at the age of 36 on Saturday.
Samereh had spells at Mes of Rafsanjan and Fajr Sepasi before moving to Esteghlal in 2000.
He joined Perugia on loan in 2001 but endured disappointing spells at the Italian football team and returned to Tehran based Esteghlal again.
Samereh has also played in the Emirati clubs Al-Shaab and Ajman from 2005 to 2009.
He became extremely popular among the Esteghlal fans for his 30th-second goal against arch rival Persepolis.
Samereh played 25 matches for Iran football team and scored twice.
