Tractor Sazi claims Iran’s Hazfi Cup
Tehran Times – KERMAN, Tractor Sazi of Tabriz claimed the title of Iran’s Hazfi Cup for the first time by beating Mes of Kerman on Friday.
In the match held at the Bahonar Stadium in Kerman, Tractor edged its host thanks to a goal from Saeid Daghighi.
Mes should have scored in the 23rd minute but Brazilian striker Edinho hit the bar.
In the 51st minute, Daghighi found the back of the net after he received an excellent pass from Karim Ansarifard into the six-yard box.
Daghighi was also named the man of the match at the end of the game.
Mes subsequently put Tractor under pressure but its strikers squandered a number of chances in front of the goal.
“I dedicate the title to our supporters, who travelled to Kerman to support us. I am so happy and shed happy tears,” Tractor Sazi Portuguese coach Tony Oliveira said in the post match news conference.
Tractor booked a place in the next season’s AFC Champions League as Iran’s Hazfi Cup champion.
