Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iran’s football coach said he is going to rest the experienced players against Kuwait in AFC Asian Cup qualifier and use younger players, instead.

The match will be played at the Enghelab Stadium in Karaj, located west of Tehran on Monday.

“As you know, we will play Kuwait and Guinea in a two-day intensive program. I have to thank the Kuwaiti football officials since they accepted our match to be held two days earlier,” Carlos Queiroz said in the pre-match news conference Sunday.

“Against Kuwait, we will rest our experienced players and the younger ones have a good chance to be in starting lineup. They can get international experience in these kinds of the matches,” Queiroz added.

“Iran and Kuwait have already secured their places in the AFC Asian Cup and it’s time to welcome our young players,” the Portuguese said.

Pointing to Esteghlal international midfielder Andranik Teymourian, who was injured in the match against Al Shabab in the AFC Champions League, Queiroz said, “We were informed about Teymourian’s injury. It’s a blow for us and Esteghlal football club. I will talk to Ghalenoei (Esteghlal coach) about Andranik. I hope that his recovery goes well for the World Cup.”

Iran and Kuwait have already qualified for the competition ahead of Lebanon and Thailand in Group F.
