Iran can be World Cup dark horse, Kevin Constant says
Tasnim – TEHRAN, Guinea football midfielder Kevin Constant said that the Iranian national football team can be a dark horse in the 2014 World Cup.
Guinea defeated Iran 2-1 in a friendly held in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Wednesday.
Kevin Constant scored Guinea’s first goal from a powerful shot in the first half.
“I am sure Iran has a chance to qualify for the next stage in the World Cup. Iran takes advantage of several good players such as Javad Nekounam, Ashkan Dejagah, Reza Ghoochannejhad, and Ghassem Haddadifar,” Constant told the Tasnim news agency.
“If Iran plays as good as the team played against us, it will advance to the next stage. Iran will have to play against Nigeria. They are a very strong team but I think Iran can be a dark horse. Iran can defeat Nigeria if they are in their best condition at that moment,” the AC Milan midfielder added.
“Iran is very different place from what is depicted in the television. I will likely return to the beautiful country in June,” Constant said.
