Iran loses to Mamelodi Sundowns in friendly
Tasnim – JOHANNESBURG, Iranian national football team lost to South African Premiership leader Mamelodi Sundowns in a friendly match held on Tuesday.
Iran was defeated 1-0 in the match held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Iran striker Karim Ansarifard missed a penalty in the match.
Carlos Queiroz’s men defeated Moroka Swallows 5-0 in its first friendly and were held to a 3-3 draw by Orlando Pirates in the second match.
Iran will play fourth-placed Mpumalanga Black Aces on Thursday.
On May 12, Carlos Queiroz’s men will travel to Austria to face Belarus, Montenegro and Angola in friendly matches before heading to Brazil to make their fourth World Cup appearance in June.
Iran will play Nigeria in Curitiba in its opening Group F match before taking on Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
