Tasnim – JOHANNESBURG, Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz said he is going to do his best at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, since he believes that the coaches work for the people.

Iran has been grouped with Argentina, Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group F of the 2014 World Cup.

Iran will play Nigeria in Curitiba on June 16 in its first match in the upcoming competitions.

The Iranian team is currently holding a camp in Johannesburg, South Africa.

“We work for the people, that’s why it is one of the most attractive jobs I’ve had in my life,” Queiroz told Reuters.

“(We must) take this World Cup as a learning process, and that doesn’t mean that we go there for tourism. We go to Brazil to create a legacy and the legacy is to put the team in a good position to be stronger after the World Cup but better prepared and more experienced,” the Portuguese added.

“No doubt since I arrived, there is great progress in the players, great progress in the team. There is a great potential in Iran, it is just a matter of putting things in the right place,” he noted.

“Three years ago Iran was fourth or fifth in Asia and today is the number one country. We try our best, we have limited resources, we have some issues in our preparations but the federation makes a lot of efforts to give the best to the players and the team,” he pointed out.

“In the last three years despite all the difficulties, Iran has shown the number one most important thing in the soccer world – passion.”

“If you have passion for the game, that is always a good starting point. With the passion of the players and the fans, we were able to qualify for the World Cup,” Queiroz stated.

“You don’t see many countries where they play with 80, 90, 100,000 in the stadium. When the two biggest teams in Tehran play, 5,000, 10,000 people are in the stadium the night before. That is amazing,” former Real Madrid and Portugal coach said.
