Iran’s Sardar Azmoun dislikes Messi comparison
Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iranian prodigy striker Sardar Azmoun said that he cannot be compared to Lionel Messi.
English media named Rubin Kazan striker the ‘Iranian Lionel Messi’ but Azmoun said that it’s not a fair comparison.
“The comparison with Messi is not correct since he is the best player of the world,” Azmoun told the Tasnim News Agency.
As regards Iran’s World Cup match against Argentnia, Azmoun said, “Playing for Iran in the World Cup is a great honor. I hope that I have the opportunity to be in lineup and I will be happy if I will play against Argentina,”
“A striker needs score and I will try to score if I get the opportunity to play, however I believe that everything is in the hands of God. I cannot promise for scoring but I will do my best at the World Cup,” the 19-year-old player added.
He voiced optimism about Iranian national football team’s good performance in Brazil, and said, “Iran could qualify for the next round. Anything is possible in football. Each team tries more, will advance to the next round.”
