Ashkan Dejagah wants Carlos Queiroz to stay in Iran
Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iran midfielder Ashkan Dejagah hopes Carlos Queiroz will extend his contract with Iranian national football team (also known as Team Melli).
Queiroz’s contract with the Iranian football team runs until the end of June and the Portuguese has not extended that.
“I wish Carlos Queiroz would stay in Iran since we will benefit from his experience,” Dejagah told the Tasnim News Agency on Sunday.
Iran will travel to Brazil on early Tuesday to participate in the 2014 World Cup. The Iranian team played three friendly matches against Belarus, Montenegro and Angola in the training camp held in Austria.
As regards Iran’s camp in Austria, Dejagah said, “We played three good matches. Each team had special condition but we played good however our players were affected by the trainings.”
Iran has been scheduled to play Nigeria in Curitiba in its opening match on June 16.
“I hope we qualify for the next stage. Our first match against Nigeria is a key match. I believe that we have chance to advance if we can beat Nigeria. Without a doubt, we will have the tough matches against Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina as well,” Fulham midfielder added.
