Iran drops in FIFA ranking but remains top of Asia

Persianfootball.com – ZURICH, Iran have dropped in the latest FIFA ranking and now only one rank higher than World Cup group opponent Nigeria who remained stagnant since the previous ranking. Despite the drop in ranking, Team Melli still remains as the highest ranked in Asia.

The June release are the last rankings before the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In the top 20, Ukraine ranked 16th is the only team who is not a participant in the tournament in Brazil. 2014 AFC Challenge Cup winner Palestine who qualified for 2015 AFC Asian Cup which will be their first ever appearance at the continental tournament, are now the 10th highest ranked team in the AFC zone with a FIFA ranking of 94 their highest ever position. Australia is the lowest ranked team amongst the World Cup participants.

The rankings of all the 32 teams at the World Cup are as follow.

Group A – Brazil (3), Croatia (18), Mexico (20), Cameroon (56)

Group B – Spain (1), Netherlands (15), Chile (14), Australia (62)

Group C – Colombia (8), Greece (12), Ivory Coast (23), Japan (46)
