Esteghlal signs Brazilian goalkeeper da Silva

TehranTimes – TEHRAN, Esteghlal football club has signed Brazilian goalkeeper Alberto Rafael da Silva on a two-year contract.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper is really happy to sign for Iranian football giant.  “I’m really excited and this would be a new challenge for me.

I talked with Nilson Corrêa, who is playing for Persepolis in Iran and I also know Esteghlal and Persepolis are great rivals here. I’ll try my best to be the Esteghlal number one keeper for next season,” Rafael told Fars news agency. In 2008 the Brazilian keeper signed a contract with Vasco da Gama.

After 11 appearances and one year with the club, Rafael went on to sign with Fluminense. Between 2009 and 2011, He became Fluminense’s number one goalkeeper making 66 appearances in the time frame.

After Seyed Mehdi Rahmati left Esteghlal, the club signed Mohsen Foroozan from Gostaresh Foolad and now Alberto Rafael da Silva from Fluminense.
