Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba takes charge of Bafana
Tehran Times – PRETORIA, Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba has been named as new head coach of South Africa football team, South Africa Football Association (SAFA) revealed on Saturday.
The 64-year-old coach has signed a four-year contract and replaced Gordon Igesund, who did not have his contract renewed after failing to win the qualification’s ticket to the 2014 World Cup.
Mashaba has already coached the South African football team three times since 1992.
“My first work would be to thank Mr Jordaan as well as the entire national executive. Words fail me. I’m sure I won’t disappoint,” Mashaba said.
“I will pull out all the stops to make sure that our people become part and parcel of our national team. The only way to do that is by bringing results,” he added.
Iran coach Carlos Queiroz had been strongly linked with a move to South Africa.
