Davari injured in Switzerland
Persianfootball.com – ZURICH, After two league defeats and another loss in Champions League qualifying midweek, Grasshoppers Zurich grabbed their first league point of the season, playing out a goalless draw versus Sion on Saturday.
Iranian international goalkeeper Daniel Davari again started in goal and had a strong first half during which he kept his side in the game with some good saves.
He had a calmer second half until he received a heavy knock during a collision with a striker, shortly before the final whistle.
Davari received medical treatment for some minutes before finally being able to leave the pitch on his feet with a facial injury and possibly a concussion and was replaced by the reserve keeper.
It is uncertain if the former German Bundesliga goalkeeper will be able to participate in the Champions League qualifying second leg versus Lille on Tuesday.
Meanwhile the Russian season has started in a dismal way for Rubin Kazan and Sardar Azmoun on Friday, as the Tatars suffered a heavy 0-4 defeat to Spartak Moscow. The Iranian teenage striker started as sole center forward and played the full 90 minutes, and although involved in plenty of goalmouth action could not set his mark on the match.
Already on Thursday Team Melli right-back Steven Beitashour and the Vancouver Whitecaps played out a 0-0 away draw against Chicago Fire and stand in sixth position of the Western Conference.
