Fulham close to signing Iranian defender Hajsafi
Press TV – LONDON, Iranian footballer Ehsan Hajsafi has been linked with a move to the British professional football club Fulham for a fee of hundreds of thousands of pounds.
According to a report published by the English-language newspaper The Daily Mail, Fulham is trying to sign the 24-year-old Iranian, who currently plays for Sepahan in Iran’s Premier Football League, for around £250,000 (over $410,000).
Hajsafi, who played as a winger for Iran men’s national football team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, has more than 60 caps.
Hajsafi played full 90 minutes in Iran’s first World Cup match against Nigeria on June 16, which ended 0–0. He then started in match against Argentina on June 21, and was one of the key players in the match. Hajsafi substituted in the 88 minutes and then Argentina scored their lone goal by Lionel Messi.
He also played 63 minutes in Iran’s final World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 25.
Meanwhile, several Dutch Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Iranian international footballer Alireza Jahanbakhsh, with SC Heerenveen leading the race.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to the SC Heerenveen, currently playing in the Eredivisie, the top level of football in the Netherlands, after his current club Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie (N.E.C) was recently relegated to the second tier of Dutch football, the Eerste Divisie, for the first time in 20 years.
“We are not under pressure to sell Jahanbakhsh, so we just let him go for the right price. There are still five days until the transfer window close. Anything could happen,” N.E.C CEO Bart van Ingen said.
Jahanbakhsh was part of the Iranian football delegation at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He made his debut at the World Cup in Iran’s Group F match at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba on June 16 against Nigeria, coming on as a substitute for Ashkan Dejagah in the 73rd minute.
