Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) and its president Ali Kafashian decided to stand back from a possible extension of “former” Team Melli coach Carlos Queiroz.

The Portuguese star coach basically agreed to sign a new contract although Kafashian as well as Queiroz mentioned that despite a 99% agreement, there were still some minor discrepancies to negotiate about.

Earlier, the Asian powerhouse tended to a Queiroz stay but the atmosphere suddenly splashed over to a preference of a domestic coach, a heavy backlash for Iranian football. The last domestic coach, Ali Daei initiated a catastrophic failure in the World Cup 2010 qualifiers which ensured a World Cup ticket for Asian nobody North Korea.

Meanwhile the former Real Madrid and Portugal coach left the country, obviously unpleased.

The Asian Cup 2015 in Australia comes closer and yet the IFF and especially Kafashian failed to organize a proper program for a successful Asian Cup campaign, except a friendly in November against South Korea.
