Tasnim News – TEHRAN, Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz is a choice to become the new Leeds United coach, according to reports in England.

Queiroz was expected to replace David Hockaday, who was fired just six games into the new season last month.

Queiroz is now listed as the second favorite behind Neil Redfearn to take the job at Elland Road.

Leeds have had 9 bosses in 10 years since they were relegated from the Premier League, though owner Massimo Cellino believes that the 61-year-old could be the man to take them back to the top.

Queiroz has not yet reached an agreement with the Iranian football officials and they hope to convince him to commit to a new contract.

He led Team Melli in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, where the Iranian football team lost to Argentina and Bosnia and played out a goalless draw with Nigeria.
