Carlos Queiroz: “I want to leave a legacy for the technical successor.”
Record – LISBON, Carlos Queiroz briefly spoke to journalists at the Team Melli camp in Lisbon, Portugal as they begin their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup. The Iranian head coach spoke of his plans for the future of Team Melli and Iranian football.
“Since he has been at the helm of the national team of Iran, Carlos Queiroz has assumed various functions. In addition to seeking to ensure the best results for the team, the Portuguese coach has also been involved in developing football in the country.
“There are other aspects that we have worked on such as education, infrastructure, and creating a vision. We are trying to transform the international football standards and especially the preparation of the future,” he said. This process was highlighted by the reduction of teams in the Iranian Premier league: “The national championship changed – it had 18 teams and, this time, a transition plan, only has 16. Moreover, we are building a center of high performance only for football within the federation for the future. “A personal goal I have is that I want to leave a legacy for the future coach of the national team.”
