Tasnim – TEHRAN, South Korea national football team coach Uli Stielike played down talk of revenge against Iran in Tuesday’s friendly.

South Korea has lost to Iran in its previous two matches in Tehran and Ulsan respectively in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

“There is no revenge issue. It can be a good warm-up match for us ahead of the Asian Cup. I and Carlos Queiroz have a common goal,” Uli Stielike said at the pre-match news conference in Tehran on Monday.

“I am happy to play against Asia’s number one team. I know it will not be an easy game for us,” the German coach added.

“I will try to change my players’ mentality. It’s my fourth match as South Korea coach. I hope to see so many Iranian fans at the 100,000-seat stadium,” Stielike added.

Iran and South Korea are preparing for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, which will open in January in Australia.

Iran is in Group C along with the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain and South Korea has been pitted in Group A along with Australia, Oman and Kuwait.
