Tasnim – TEHRAN, Iran’s national football team will be boosted by the return to fitness of Javad Nekounam ahead of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

Iran captain sustained a knee injury in Osasuna’s training last week.

“I do physiotherapy to rehabilitate my knee. I will be joining the tram’s training soon. I will be ready for the Asian Cup,” Nekounam told the Tasnim News Agency.

The Asian Cup will kick off in Australia on January 9, with Iran playing Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE in Group C.

Iran will travel to Sydney on December 30 and train at Cromer Park on the northern beaches until January 7, when it heads to Melbourne for their opening match against Bahrain on January 11.
