Pejman Montazeri ruled out of Iran’s Asian Cup

Loading...Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iranian defender Pejman Montazeri will miss the Asian Cup due to an injury he suffered in the Qatar Stars League. It was unsure if he would recover in time to make the squad, however FFIRI confirmed he would not return in time to participate in the tournament.
Iranian national football team defender Pejman Montazeri will miss the 2015 AFC Asian Cup after suffering a foot injury.
Last week, Qatari club Umm Salal had announced on twitter its defender injured and is a doubt for the AFC Asian Cup.
“Montazeri has been sidelined for three or four weeks and cannot participate in the AFC Asian Cup,” president of Iran Football Federation (IFF) Ali Kaffashian told Tasnim news agency.
The Asian Cup will kick off in Australia on January 9, with Iran playing Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE in Group C.
