Tasnim – SYDNEY, Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres said that the friendly match between Iran and Iraq is a major boost to the local community.

Iran has been scheduled to meet Iraq on Sunday at the WIN Stadium in Illawarra.

“We are encouraging the large contingent of Iraqi and Iranian expatriates living in Australia to come and support their national team, but also the local community,” Stuart Ayres said.

“The match is a major boost to the local community. This is great news for football fans right across the Illawarra, and further demonstrates the capability of WIN Stadium to host major international events,” he added.

The Iran national football team will prepare for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup by facing Iraq who also qualified.
