“There is no easy game in the Asian Cup.” – Teymourian
TehranTimes – Sydney, Team Melli Defensive-midfielder Andranik Teymourian expresses his delight at the positive start for Iran and dismisses any claims that the tournament is easy.
Iran international midfielder Andranik Teymourian believes that there is no easy game in major tournaments like Asian Cup.
“That was a good win against Bahrain but we’re just at the beginning of the road. The first match is so important and I’m happy we won the game. Bahrain is a good strong team especially in defense but Carlos Queiroz knew how we can beat them,” Teymourian said.
The UAE thrashed Qatar 4-1 in the Group C match but Teymourian believes that even with this result the next game for Iran against Qatar is not an easy one.
“There isn’t any easy game in Asian Cup so even with this heavy defeat against the UAE we will not consider Qatar as an underdog. I hope we qualify as group winner to avoid facing Japan in the next round,” he added.
“Our main goal is to win the Asian Cup after 39 years to make Iranian fans happy but it’s so early to talk about winning the tournament. Let us focus on our next match against Qatar,” Teymourian stated.
Iran’s both goals against Bahrain were assisted by Teymourian.
