Persianfootball.com – CANBERRA, Former Australian internationals Mark Bosnich and John Aloisi slammed Asian Cup and FIFA referee Ben Williams after the official made embarrassing decisions during the Asian Cup quarter final clash between Iran and Iraq on Friday afternoon.

In an Australian TV analysis, both highly respected former Australian national team players heavily criticized the performance of Australian referee Benjamin Williams during Iran’s exit of the Asian Cup against Iraq.

Bosnich expressed his cluelessness regarding William’s decision to send off Iran’s full-back Mehrdad Pooladi for simply nothing in the first half of the match which doomed Team Melli to play outnumbered until the penalty shootout.

“He gives a booking for nothing. The boy goes down but to send him off like this is absolutely ridiculous”, Bosnich said.

“Top referees would go to the players and warn him that if anything happens again, you will get sent off”, Aloisi expressed his dissatisfaction as well and added that “it’s a massive robbery in the quarter final and he killed the game”.

Aloisi continued to bash Mr. Williams and also made a short comparison with his performances in the Australian A-League.

“Always praise Williams and he will not be against you. Queiroz criticized him after the Bahrain match in the group stage and he has hold a grudge against Iran and especially against Queiroz.”

Besides his terrible blunder, Williams assumedly forgot to book or even give Iraqi players a marching order after a vast number of fouls against Iranian players.

As a side note, Queiroz was fined by the AFC after criticizing William’s performance during the match against Bahrain.

Although Williams presented himself as a terrible decision maker after awarding a penalty for Saudi-Arabia against Uzbekistan in the group stage, he still is favored by the Asian Football Association. The Australian official amateurishly eased Iraq’s way to the semi-finals and ruined the Iranian dream of winning the Asian Cup.

Many football experts and Iranian fans in social media and TV claimed that Mr Williams owes an apology for his unacceptable mistakes and his poor and unilateral refereeing.
