Tehran Times – CANBERRA, Iran iconic midfielder Ashkan Dejagah discussed how he felt his team didn’t deserve to lose against Iraq in the quarter-final round of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup on Friday.

Team Iran, who was reduced to 10-man in the first half, lost to Iraqi football team 7-6 on the penalty shootout after the two teams finished all square at 3-3 at the end of extra-time.

“To be honest, I don’t think we deserved to lose against Iraq. Without the red card we probably would have won the game,” Dejagah said.

“I really don’t know why referee (Ben Williams) showed Mehrdad Pooladi his second yellow card,” Dejagah said.

“I received pain injections before the match and did my best to win but I was not 100 per cent fit to face Iraq,” former Fulham midfielder added.
