Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Carlos Queiroz is going to stay as Iran football coach until the end of the 2018 World Cup.

Team Iran failed to advance to the 2015 Asian Cup semi-final under tutelage of the Portuguese coach, being beaten by Iraq 7-6 on penalties.

“First of all, I am very happy for my young players since they had a good performance in the tournament. I think, we should be proud of our performance since we had plenty of limitations and difficulties ahead of the competition.

“Iran deserved to be in the semi-final at least. I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to all those who trusted and supported us,” Queiroz told the reporters at the Imam Khomeini International Airport on Monday.

“From now, we have to concentrate on the 2018 World Cup and I think Iran has a chance to qualify for the prestigious tournament,” he added.
