Loading...Persianfootball.com – DOHA, Iran defeated Lebanon 8-3 in the 3rd place match on the final day of the AFC Asian Beach Soccer Championship being held in Doha, Qatar.
With defeating Lebanon, Iran secured third place in the tournament and the final spot at the next FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which will be held in Espinho, Portugal. This marks the third consecutive, World Cup appearance for Iran, having already appeared at the tournament in 2011 and 2013. Overall, Iran has qualified for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup six times in total.
After having lost to Japan 5-4 in a thrilling Semi-final match, Iran was left with a final opportunity to qualify for the global showpiece in the play-off for third place against Lebanon.
The AFC tournament winners, second and third-place teams secure the Asian berths for the World Cup which will be held in July this year. Iran now joins Oman and Japan as the three Asian representatives who will feature at the finals.
