“Iran are not going to be tourists at FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup” – Marco Octavio
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Iran coach Marco Octavio said that they want to finish in the top four in the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal.
Iran has been pitted against Brazil, Spain and Mexico in Group C of the event which be held in Espinho, Portugal from July 9 to 19.
“First of all, it’s a great honor we are among the top six teams in the ranking. To participate in the World Cup, you should be strong since the event will bring so many powerful teams together,” Marco Octavio told Iran Football Federation website.
“We have been drawn in a tough group. Team Iran is in ‘group of death’ but we want to advance to the quarterfinals. We are not tourists in Portugal,” the Brazilian coach added.
Iran will start the campaign with a match against Spain on July 10.
“Spain finished in second place in the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Tahiti. Brazil also came third in the event. It doesn’t matter who we play. We have to win our matches,” Octavio added.
“In the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Russia, Portugal, Spain and Brazil as well as Switzerland are favorites. Iran also is a strong team and we can finish in the top four,” Octavio said.
