The U-18 Italian football team beat Iran 2-1 at the “Carlo Angelo Luzzi” Stadium in Gualdo Tadino, with 1,500 fans in attendance.
The first half was very balanced, finishing goalless. Milan forward Vassallo gave Italy the lead in the 52nd minute and Fiorentina midfielder Minelli doubled the lead nine minutes later from the penalty spot.
Iran pulled a goal back in the 65th minute after converting a penalty.
The only previous encounter between the two teams took place in 2013, with the Italian team defeated Iran 2-0 at the ‘Granatkin’ Tournament in Saint Petersburg.
