Ghalenoei Nears Exit Door Following a Poor Season
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal are reportedly on the verge of dismissing coach Amir Ghalenoei after a poor campaign which left the blue giants in the sixth place in the Iran Professional League.
The club board of directors had a meeting on Monday and it seems all of the members agreed to sack former Tractor Sazi and Sepahan coach.
“We will study the candidates profile to appoint the new head coach of the club as soon as possible,” Pendar Tofighi, the member of club’s board of directors, told the reporters.
Despite very good results with Sepahan and Tractor Sazi, Amir Ghalenoei had two poor seasons with Esteghlal.
Esteghlal finished 5th last year under Ghalenoei while they dropped one place this season to finish 6th and lost both Tehran derbies to arch-rival Persepolis.
Naft Tehran coach Alireza Mansourian who had a fantastic season with his young team is the main candidate to replace Ghalenoei.
