PressTV – TEHRAN, Saudi football club al Hilal plans to file a complaint with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) against Iran’s Persepolis and the Malaysian referee Mohamed Nagir Amir Noor, after the 1-0 defeat in Tehran.

Al Hilal claims the fans of the popular Iranian side “threw bottles and chanted political slogans” in the AFC Champions League match in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium on Tuesday.

Backed by over 100,000 fans, the red-clad Persepolis beat the visiting al Hilal 1-0 in the first leg of round of 16 as Brazilian defender Digao opened his own net, tapping in Persepolis striker Mehdi Taremi’s left cross from the edge of the woodwork two minutes into stoppage time of the second half.

Persepolis narrowly shaded a tight first half that ended scoreless despite al Hilal putting the ball in the net on 28 minutes. Salem al-Dawsari’s effort, when the ball hit him and crossed the line after the Persepolis defense’s attempted clearance, was ruled offside by Amir Noor.

It could be a tough second-leg encounter for Persepolis as the Iranian team visits al Hilal in Riyadh next Tuesday.
